AIWFC UK No 1 (96,906) by Andrew from UK This is a big moment, finally, she's number one. I don't often write on here anymore but today is a huge occasion for us UK lambs. I listened to the chart live today, as I did back in the 90s, waiting to hear her chart position. So often not getting the chart positions I always felt her songs deserved. This song is probably her most popular song by the general public here in the UK, so I'm glad it's finally reached its long awaited peak position. Happy Christmas Lambs. O Santa! O Mariah (96,904) by Andrew from the United Kingdom 26 years ago I remember exactly where I was when I listened to the UK Top 40 and heard Mariah was Number 2. I'd been a Mariah fan for about a year. My dad was driving the car. We had dropped my brother off to his girlfriend's house. It was dark. The lanes were country-winding and seemed longer in anticipation of the news. My dad had no clue what I was waiting for. He was talking but I wasn't listening. Mariah had to be Number 1. It had to be. I adored her. The song was brilliant. She deserved it. Then it was announced at about 1845hrs on that fateful Sunday that Mariah was second to a miserable song about suicide. I cried. Silently I turned to the window and I cried to myself. It felt like Mariah was cheated. Like I was cheated. Like we were all cheated. I wanted everyone to understand how amazing she was - is. But they didn't get it. Mariah had a stellar career in the Top 10 of the UK Top 40 for many years to come. She was at the beginning of her popularity and peak. Every single release: there's me recording the Top 40 to find out where she was, hoping, wishing, screaming into my pillow. Alas, I was always frustrated. But the last laugh is the greatest laugh of all. I have been mocked, ridiculed, frustrated, pitied as a Mariah fan, and so on. Today means a hell of a lot to me. Because of this: I was right. I was right that that song was genius. I was right that she was hold stand the test of time. I was right that she was a musical genius. I was right. And yeah congrats to Mariah as well. But mostly to me. Mariah, I see you at the top of (arguably) the second most important chart in the world, in my own country, and I am so proud of you. AIWFCIY finally hits #1 in the UK (96,901) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines Congrats Mariah for having her third charttopper in the UK (first one she actually wrote), and congrats to the UK lambs and music-listening public for finally giving Mariah what she deserves this time. I kinda hope Wham also gets to top the charts next week with Last Christmas. It would be a lovely tribute to George Michael. (Friday 11 December 2020; 18:51)

Nobody is dismissing Mariah's dominance and icon status during Christmas. She has attached herself to Christmas without precedent in the modern era. "The memoir doing really well is the most obvious proof of her relevance, because she is selling her life story, not music." Your interpretation of the word "relevant" is questionable. "Despite every questionable or objectionable thing she has done in the past, after all these years, people still actually care about her - the person, or at least the celebrity." She is an icon of our times. It is undisputed. Or should be undisputed. Her complete lack of relevance musically outside of December can be made evident in many ways. But I have to admit, while so many fans bemoan Mariah's lapse in relevance, it is just like Mariah to invent her own form of relevance. After so many records broken, she's the first artist to make holiday domination a global achievement category. Sleigh Ride (96,893) by 123 from USA This was probably my favorite part of the special, probably because it's a mew song. She sounds so good. I love when she sings in her full mid voice and avoids whispers. No need for belts when your tone in full voice is so buttery. She adds a few slight inflections to pepper the delivery and throws in some whistles to add that wow factor. I love that when she gets off the sleigh the camera angle is no loner just on her "good side" Mariah never stares into the camera and moves around naturally and not once does she try to give a sexy look or pose. This is not the Official Singles Chart which is broadcasted on BBC Radio 1. The Official Big Top 40 is a radio chart show broadcast every Sunday from 4-7pm on Global's Capital and Heart networks. The Official Singles Chart is the most important chart in the UK and on that list "All I want for Christmas is you" is at Number 2. (Wednesday 9 December 2020; 10:02)

Re: AIWFCIY #2 this week on the Hot 100 (96,885) (96,888) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines If it tops the chart for at least 2 weeks every year until 2028, it can, assuming that no other song in that time period beats Old Town Road. Being #1 cumulatively for that long will set a few other records as well, such as it being a possible contender for Song of the Decade (that isn't from this decade) or something to that effect. When you look at the official charts Ariana Grande is still at number one with Mariah at number two. Are they reporting prematurely? Will Mariah reach number one on Friday?
